The most important thing to take away is: Know your audience. Do they use social media? If yes, which sites?
Why is this important you may ask? Well if you are investing 5 to 10 hours a week in to your FaceBook account, yet your customers/clients are trying to follow you on Twitter, did you spend your time wisely? Further more do you relay know your customer?
Branding: Branding is one of the great keys to Social Marketing .Brand your website, blog, e-news letters, and any other correspondence you may use when conversing with your customers/client, thus allowing them to know which source of social media you are using.
2nd: Don't let social media eat up all of your time. Plan out your time carefully and wisely the number of hours you spend updating your sites each week.
3rd: Stick with it! Update your sites/blogs on a regularly. New content on your sites/blog, for example, not only creates interest, it moves you up higher in search engine results.
